Vacations In Blackpool And Some Important Facts To Know
Posted on May 7, 2009, by Andrew Kelly, under Travel and Leisure.
Blackpool is an incredibly popular seaside resort found on the English North West coast, which is amazingly popular with tourists from the close by towns which include Liverpool, Warrington, Manchester and more. The town is also fantastically popular with Scottish folk who often turn up in large groups rather like the hoards of factory workers of the past on their company day out. At times it would seem as though the town is smothered in guest houses and tourist attractions and even though there is a large amount of Blackpool bed and breakfasts it is better to book ahead to avoid disappointment. Hotels varies from the cheap and chearful to 5 star class. Many are situated on the sea front alternatively, if you would rather stay something less busy you will find some further away.
In the 18th century Blackpool began to see its first tourists who had arrived to indulge in the new fashion of sea bathing. With the arrival of the railways, in 1846, the town witnessed an increase in the number of visitors to”take the cure” as sea bathing was called at that time. Nowadays tourists can travel to Blackpool by railway , plane or automobile arriving there much faster than the Victorian people who would take as long as 2 days from Manchester.
About Blackpool Pleasure Beach
The most popular attraction in the town, in Lancashire, which brings in roughly seven million visitors per annum, is Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The Pleasure Beach is a funfair on an enormous scale with mind blowing big rides, for example Valhalla, Grand National, the Big One, Ice Blast, Zipper Dipper and Wild Mouse, and including even more roller coasters, thrill rides, children’s rides, sideshows, games and sidestalls. The most recent addition is Infusion, the world’s first to feature a suspended looping coaster entirely over water.
A handy tip to remember: If you are planning to visit the Pleasure Beach as a family group it is possible to make savings by buying an unlimited ride wristband especially if you will going on every ride because individual prices soon amounts to serious cash.
How To Get There And B&B Accommodation
As mentioned earlier in this article, Blackpool is very easy to get to these days as it is possible to travel to the town by railway, air or car. If arriving by you are railway you will, most probably, arrive at Blakcpool’s main railway station, which is Blackpool North situated on Talbot Road. Not that far away, a little bit further down Talbot Road is Blackpool National Express Coach Station, the main bus station. The other railway station, Blackpool South, is at Waterloo Road, which is better if you want the Pleasure Beach. Blackpool’s airport is situated some 2 miles from the town center and was known as, Blackpool Squires Gate Airport, one of the oldest airports in the UK.
Bed & breakfast accommodation in Blackpool is often available at reasonable rates. Rooms are far less expensive out of season but more expensive on Saturdays and Sundays. Blackpool hotels are at their most costly at the time of the Illuminations, which is really Blackpool’s peak season.
Please note: Some B and B’s can be noisy and busy especially those located between North and Central Pier. If you rather stay at a place which is not so noisy try booking a place past the North Pier.

How to Get the Cheapest Fare
Posted on April 24, 2009, by sapibontv, under Travel and Leisure.
Traveling can get expensive but there are ways to help keep your travel costs down and make sure you get the cheapest fares available. Whether you are flying by boat, plane, train, or bus you should be able to cut way down on your travel expenses by taking some quick advice on getting the cheapest fares around.
One of the ways you can reduce your fares is by booking your trip in advance. Many companies will offer discounts to travelers that book their tickets 30 days or more in advance. This is especially true with airlines, and if you can book your trip even further in advance then you will find that your fares could be even lower.
Use the discount websites to find low fares on travel. If you stick with the more popular and well known websites, then you should not have any problem finding fares that are cheap and available. If you need to book other things like hotels and rental cars, then considering using these sites for those things as well. The more you can save by planning on a discount website the better off you are.
If you are flying then you may want to consider flying on stand by. Many airlines offer discounts, or other forms of compensation such as free ticket vouchers for future flights, to passengers that agree to fly stand by. It can be difficult to schedule a trip around flying stand by, but the savings would make it worth the hassle.
One way that you can lower the cost of your fares is consider alternate forms of transportation. If you are flying to a destination, then check and see if you have time to take the train or the bus instead. These alternative forms of transportation are going to be much less expensive, and if you do have the time to take the train or the bus then you get the added benefit of being able to take in the beautiful countryside on your trip.

What Is The Best Thing To Do In Costa Rica
Posted on March 21, 2009, by Daniel Q. Floyd, under Travel and Leisure.
Visiting Costa Rica for many people is the vacation of a lifetime. With some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, stunning nature and scenery, a fabulous culture and some of the most fun activities for you and your family it is difficult to choose the very best thing that you can do while you are in Costa Rica.
A very peculiar activity comes to my mind, however, that I think deserves mention. It will give you a thrill while also introducing you to the natural beauty of the forest canopy. The Santa Elena Cloud Forest will provide you with what you need for a great adventure.
Santa Elena de Monteverde is located at 5000 feet above sea level, on CR’s Pacific Slope, in the province of Puntarenas. It boasts a very unique ecosystem that is home to a diverse range of endemic species of flora and fauna. It became well known in the early 90’s when National Geographic filmed in the area and featured the newly discovered cloud forest canopy. University student groups and biologists working out of research stations throughout the region continue to make new discoveries in this ecosystem.
A Monteverde zip line tour will introduce you to the amazing natural beauty of the cloud forest canopy from a bird’s eye view. Yep, you’ll be zipping from tree top to tree top in one of the most exciting tours of your life. Not only is this a thrill , but the majestic surroundings are absolutely breathtaking.
It is perfectly safe and the guides and instructors are right there to tell you everything that you need to know about Monteverde zip lining. Once you have all of your instructions and safety information, you will push off the platform and out over the forest below.
You will reach new heights as the tour takes you from 20 feet above the forest floor to 80 feet. The views will change from open panoramas to lush vegetation. Regardless of how high above the forest floor you are, this tour will rock you to your soul.
Be sure to check this one out on your trip. If you don’t make it a point to soar through the canopy, you may just live to regret not having done so. But , then again, there’s always the next time you find the time for another trip.

Pack Your Suitcase - Tips for Fuss-Free Packing
Posted on March 2, 2009, by admin, under Travel and Leisure.
Are you planning a business trip or vacation? Do you dread the late night of ironing before your early morning meeting or trip into town?
Are you frustrated when you can’t fit that extra pair of shoes or your necklaces arrive in a knot?
Taking a few extra moments packing your suitcase using some of the following simple tips can easily cut down on the time and effort of sorting and pressing your wardrobe when you arrive.
PACK TIGHTLY
Did you know that packing your suitcase snuggly (not TOO tight) can actually help prevent your clothes from wrinkling? Too much empty space in your luggage can allow for clothes to get jostled about inside your suitcase, undoing all your efforts to fold and organize.
FIND THAT EXTRA SPACE
Don’t pack shoes without filling them with socks, underwear or hosiery. Empty shoes take up valuable space, and with this strategy you might even be able to pack an extra pair. Just make sure to wrap them in plastic to avoid getting dirt on your clothes.
Are you packing sweaters or other bulky articles? Consider using space saver bags that are designed to remove excess air from your clothing. The bags are created with a vent or other device that allows you to manually squeeze the air out or use a vacuum cleaner to remove the air. The special vents prevent the air from coming back in.
If you’re packing belts, be sure to wrap them around the inside of the suitcase instead of rolling them up. They will take up less space and stay in better condition.
PREVENT CREASES
Don’t you hate it when your efforts to fold and pack neatly still result in creases that need ironing or steaming to remove? Try these suggestions to reduce creasing:
Fold shirts once lengthwise and then fold the sleeves back over the shirt. Stack shirts and lay them as a flat pile in your suitcase.
Fold pants once lengthwise and place them across your suitcase with the lower leg of the pants remaining outside of the packing area. Place remaining items on top of the pants and then fold the lower leg over the packed items. This will prevent creasing across the knee.
Another method for packing without creasing is to fold pants and shirts lengthwise and then roll them from the bottom up. Be certain to pack the items snuggly into place. If you must pack items that wrinkle very easily cover them with dry cleaner bags before rolling. This will also help prevent wrinkles and creasing.
TIPS FOR TANGLED JEWLERY
Do you despise the tangled mess of necklaces tossed about in a box? First of all, a box takes up too much needed space. Use a soft pouch to hold your jewelry. Prevent tangles by cutting a drinking straw to half the length of your necklace or chain bracelet. String one end through the straw and fasten the clasp.
Now that you will arrive with organized and wrinkle-free attire you have more time to enjoy yourself! For all your luggage needs visit the Luggage Guru for handbags, duffel bags and luggage accessories.

Posted on March 1, 2009, by Tom Martens, under Travel and Leisure.
Most flights from the United Kingdom into Paris land at the city?s main airport, Charles de Gaulle International Airport. Air France is the main airline offering flights into Paris from the UK. However, flights are also available into Orly and Beauvais Airports. Orly is closer to the center of Paris than Beauvais, but Orly has fewer inbound flights from the UK. Beauvais is 65 miles from Paris, compared to Orly?s nine miles. There are shuttles and other means of transportation from both Beauvais and Orly airports into the center of Paris.
Every year over 45 million people visit the City of Light. Not matter what your budget or your tastes, everyone can plan a wonderful vacation to Paris.
Paris lies along the banks of the Seine River in the north of France. The city has a population of approximately 2.2 million, but the greater metropolitan area has more than 12 million inhabitants, as is one of the most populous metropolitan areas in Europe. Fortunately for Parisians and tourists alike, the public transportation system of Paris is extremely well developed, and the famed Metro is quite easy to use. There are also busses and taxis, and, for visitors staying in the city itself, it is easy to walk along beautiful streets, although visitors should use caution crossing them. The capital of France is divided into districts. Perhaps the best known as the Champs Elysees and the Place de la Bastille. One of the most important tourist locations is the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower was built in 1889 as part of a world’s fair and was supposed to be temporary. However, it still stands, and millions of visitors enjoy the view from the tower each year. Other popular tourist sites include the Notre Dame cathedral, the Pantheon Church, the Louvre, the Sorbonne, and Invalides Museum, which is the final resting place of Napoleon. At the Louvre you can see famous works of art such as the Venus de Milo and the Mona Lisa. Paris is also well known for its beautiful gardens, including the Tuileries Garden and the Luxembourg Garden on the Left Bank.
Paris is famous around the world as providing the standard for French cuisine. Parisian chefs insist on using fresh, local ingredients to create some of the most delicious food in the entire world. There is a restaurant for every budget, from McDonald’s to restaurants with four Michelin stars, and everything you can imagine in between. Diners are not disappointed in Paris.
And if the food, the art, and the beauty of Paris are not enough, you can even make a side trip to EuroDisney.
